Getting Free Search Engine Traffic

The best way to get your site exposed to tons of visitors is not through advertising. It is through free search engine traffic. It costs no money and will give you much more visitors than paid advertising. Even people who realize this often go about obtaining it the wrong way.

Keywords or KEY words
Keywords are what you target to get ranked high. This sounds complicated so but is simpler than you might think. Keep reading

A keyword is any word or set of words typed into a search engine. For example the word "car" is a keyword. The phrase "blue cars" is a keyword. The phrase "big blue cars" is a keyword. Everything typed into a search engine is considered a keyword.

It would be simpler if everyone just referred to them as terms that are searched. However, that is not the case and the correct term to use is keyword. No matter where you go on the internet you will see them referred to as keywords.

When you do searches on specific terms the search engine tries to compile the best results for that exact word or set of words. In order to get alot of free search engine traffic you need to target a specific keyword for every page.

Don't build pages without a keyword in mind. Anyways, a page is always about a specific term. If you are writing a page talking about cat toys, you should optimize that page so it will rank high in search results when people type in the phrase "cat toys".

If you didn't fit it with some simple optimization you would essentially be wasting your time because chances are no one would ever find your page. In order to get free search engine traffic the engines need to know what your page is about.

Have you ever heard the term search engine optimization or SEO?

That is the term used when talking about optimizing your webpages to get ranked highly in the search results. There is a lot of confusion and turmoil surrounding this term. When I say confusion and turmoil I mean alot of uncertainity and guessing when it comes to what the search engines judge your pages on in order to rank them.

If you knew for sure you could cater every page to those factors and rank #1 for any keyword you want.

SEOers are people who claim they know how search engines rank pages. They claim to know what they look for when ranking pages.

People pay these supposed experts who claim they know what Google and others look tons of money to optimize their webpages. The truth is no one knows besides a couple people in the entire world. There are probably a total of 3 people who know the total forumula for google. Others work on different parts of the formula.

SEOers don’t know what google, yahoo, and other search engines look for. They cheat people out of their money. 99% of don’t try to OPTIMIZE your website. Rather they make lots of attempts to fool the engines and end up getting people banned all together.

The key to understanding how to make your pages rank highly is understanding how search engines work: what their goal, purpose, and direction they want to go. The lifeblood of search engines is providing users with quality results.

There is no surprise that google is the most popular search engine. It delivers the best results. If you do searches at yahoo or live search you get subpar results.

By providing the best results they get more and more people to use them then looking for something on the internet. They make their money from the ads you see on the sides labeled “sponsored results”. The more people using their engine the more money they can charged advertisers for placing their ad in the sponsored results section. That translates into more money for them.

So if search engines strive to provide people with the best results, then give them the best quality content. That is what they are looking for.

Search engines are measuring more and more off page criteria (the human response). They are measuring things like how long visitors stay on a page, how far they scroll down, and so on.

How To Optimize Your Pages So That They Will Rank High For Years

Search engines judge your pages on a number of different things. Most which no one has any idea. There are 6 that are extremely important.

File Name
The file name is what you see after the domain name. Look at your address bar above. You can see that after my domain the file name for this page is Free Search Engine Traffic(with hyphens). That is the file name for this particular page. It is the keyword I am trying to rank high for.

Page Title
The page title is what you see at the top of your browser. It says "free search engine traffic | Make Money Online". Include your keyword in the title, preferably at the beginning in a prominent position. Including it twice might make the engines feel like they are trying to be fooled resulting in being banned.

Description
The description is what you see under the page title in the search results. It provides user a brief description of what is on that particular page. Include your keyword in the description atleast once and no more than twice.

Headline
Finally something about the page itself. Every page is started with a headline. The headline should include your targeted keyword only once. Including it twice might make the search engines feel like they are trying to be fooled.

Page Body
The page itself should be atleast 300 words in order to be considered a serious content page. Anything lower will most likely yield bad results. The number of times your keyword should appear in the page body depends on how long the page is. The longer the page and the more the text means that you can stuff more keywords in without worrying about being banned for keyword spamming.

Typically your targeted keyword or keyword phrase should make up between 2%-5% of the text. If you were to do this manually it would take tons of time. Go to keyworddensity.com get that information for free. To get information concerning a particular page you just type in the URL for the page and type in the keyword that it is targeting.

After that you will be shown a table that includes many statistics. Most of them are not really important. You only need gto look at one. That is column labeled "visible text". To the right of that you will see a percentage. If that percentage isn't a number between 2 and 5 then you need to modify your page until it fits.

Text Links
Text links are the most misunderstood and underutilized strategy to get your webpages to rank better. It is important that you have a text link that contains your targeted keyword. Do not include in a text link anymore than twice. The engines might feel like they are trying to be manipulated and ban you.

The way I like to include is the way you see at the bottom of the page. A simple link that say return to the top of free search engine traffic will do the trick. Its not that the link takes you to the top, it simply refreshes the page which takes you to the top.

Conclusion: Do not try to fool the search engines. It will only get you banned. Also do not try to play the number game and guess what the search engines want. Supply them with good quality content because that is what they are constantly striving for.

With that said you still need to give them enough hooks in the page title, file name, description, page body, text links, and headline to let them know what your page is about. If you don't they won't know what keyword to rank you for resulting in very poor results.

Whatever you do not hire a SEOer. You will just waste your money. The search engines get twice as complex every 18 months. That basically means they rank your website on twice as many factors every 18 months. The factors you are being judged on are constantly changing to deliver the best results.
